Lake Mead Drought ~ Officially Over

"It seemed like it would never happen, but it has!"

The water in Lake Mead, the largest man-made reservoir in America, has been rising steadily for over a year now, and the drought line of 1125' has finally been passed! "It's great to have the lake back up, and the water's still flowin' in!"

The current water elevation is 1134.52' (January 22, 2012). In fact, it's risen over 53' in just 14 months. The last time the water was this high was in April of 2006.

Tried the new bridge yet?

It's been open for over a year now and the reviews are rolling in! "It saves time crossing the river, the traffic doesn't even slow, and we almost missed the fact that we were on a bridge" said one enthusiastic motorist.

It took five years to complete, spans over 2000 feet above the Colorado River, is just south of Hoover Dam, and connects Arizona and Nevada on the US 93. It's called the bypass.

The official name of the bridge is the "Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge"

The best part is that it seems to be saving drivers a lot of time by bypassing the delays that used to plague the Hoover Dam crossing. Most drivers report shaving an hour off their trip to Las Vegas and Callville Bay.
